On January 14th, 2009 adults, youth from the north side community, and members of Stand Together Milwaukee meet at the Washington Park Urban Ecology Center to watch Promise to America, followed by a discussion on gun violence, activism, and action. Popcorn and fun icebreakers helped to bring young and old together. After watching the educational documentary film, youth and adults shared there experience with violence, and their out look on community change.

Youth from Washington Park began to brainstorm ways they could improve their neighborhood through clean ups.

Ella Dunbar from SDC mentioned how important it was for administrators to meet with and listen to youth give their input on violence.
